MA Recordings is an all acoustic music label established in Japan in 1988. The principal guiding concept of the label is the Chinese hieroglyph meaning “space” or “interval”, pronounced “MA” in Japanese. All projects are consequently recorded, regardless of musical genre, in large acoustically elegant and satisfying “spaces”, such as concert halls designed for classical music performance or churches. Moreover, to preserve the sonic integrity unique of every recording, only 2 highly sophisticated handmade microphones (specific to MA) are used, along with exotic audio cables (presently utilizing pure silver and gold conductors). This dedication to both musical and sonic integrity has earned the MA label a loyal following among both music lovers and audiophiles. MA Producer/Engineer Todd Garfinkle has traveled the world producing recordings of classical, world, jazz, ancient and contemporary music, and an indefinable combination of the above. He has worked in Japan, Argentina, Spain, Italia, Belgium, Portugal, France, Serbia, Macedonia, NYC and Los Angeles, of all places!
Voici une des grandes affiches de notre sélection, M.A. Recordings ne s’attache pas à un style musical trop particulier et nous propose quelques enregistrements de musique classique ou jazz. Cependant la majorité des enregistrements proposés se classe dans la catégorie Musiques du Monde. Logiquement le succès de ce label s’est construit autour de musiques rares, exotiques, parfois anciennes mais toujours de premier ordre.
Enfin l’aspect technique est toujours pris en grande considération car nous nous attachons à vous présenter uniquement des supports apportant un " plus " audible dans un système Hi-Fi équilibré. De ce coté M.A. Recordings n’est pas en reste car il se trouve que ce Label fut l’un des tout premiers à employer le 96kHz mis au point par DCS. La prise de son respecte une règle qui devrait être plus répandue : peu de microphones, deux en général sont amplement suffisants pour la stéréophonie. Plus de naturel et une meilleure image en sont les bénéfices directs.
